Day 3 - Painting

Our host families were nice enough to wake us around 7 am local time (earlier for many) so we could meet up at St. Andrews for a quick meeting. Some of us were driven to the church, some of us walked, and a few of us (Michael, Jon, and Peter) were lucky enough to take a bus. Note to travelers: It is acceptable to exit a moving bus in B.A. as the doors open a good ten seconds prior to reaching destination.

Our First service project mainly consisted of sanding down charis, tables, doors, and walls and applying new coats of paint at Catedral de la Esperanza, a church serving the needs of the local residents. Although the work wasn't always easy we kept in our minds the incredible mission this church has accepted. This was a poverty-stricken neighborhood and many of its inhabitants are battling addictions. The Pastor even explained how demon and idol worship is commonplace. They are doing an amazing job providing basic necessities such as food, water, and toiletries as well as attending to the spiritual needs of the congregation. Needless to say, we were humbled to help in any way possible.

Missing from the photo are Christine and Rachel. They were busy walking the streets of downtown Buenos Aires handing out invitations to the second rock concert. Gracias, Christine and Rachel!
