Day 5 - Church and time with host families

Today was an easy day. We all went to the service at San Andres which was taught by Les while worship was a blend of songs in English and Spanish (they sounded great in both languages). Les used an analogy that seemed to resonate with everyone. He spoke of how our lives are like pies. Our pies have slices symbolizing finances, careers, material possessions, God, etc. The point was that for many of us God is just another slice on the pie and rarely the biggest one. Instead of making the Lord the center of the pie that permeates every slice, we only devote small portions of our life to Him. Only when He is at the center can we begin to live the way He intended us to. That means giving everything over to Him; our fears, worries, time, love. In words that gave our interpreter Robert some trouble, "All is all, and that's all all is." (Sorry Les, I know this doesn't do your sermon justice).

One of the best parts about coming out here is the relationships we have begun to build with our host families and the amazing people of San Andres. It's incredible to talk about Jesus with people who live on another continent and have a different native language. We are all very blessed to be where we are and doing what we are doing.

After the sermon we all split off with our host families. I know that some people, Clay, Jake, Houston and Steven went to yacht club (Sorry if I got that wrong) for lunch. Michael, Jonny, Kara, and I (Peter) went to get panqueques for lunch with our host families. Imagine thin pancakes wrapped around an assortment of meats, cheeses, vegetables, lentils, basically everything you can think of considering there were over 200 menu items. Amazing. We then spent the rest of the day at a market in San Isidro buying various items one would normally pay a lot for in the States. Jonny, Michael, and I had coffee that ranked near the top of our lists for "best-cups-0f-coffee-I've-ever-had." The three of us ran into Tony, Jason, Christine, and Rachel along with their host families at the market as well. Photos will be up soon!

Getting coffee in San Isidro! (Ask Jonny how the coffee tasted)
