Day 3 - Concert

We left the Catedral de la Esperanza and headed over to downtown Buenos Aires to St. Andrews Church in preparation of the second rock concert. We were greeted once again with amazing snacks and an abundance of pastries. Please take a look at the pictures of this amazing old church below. It is reminiscent of a traditional Catholic cathedral with its flying buttresses and ornate stained glass windows (there were, in fact, no flying buttresses; it was simply a wish of the author’s to use that term). The church was built over 150 years ago although it has undergone some major renovations. A few of us met the historian of the church who explained how large sections of the original building had been demolished due to road expansions. In any case, the church was very old and very beautiful. There was even a little library with many books that may have been first editions.

The concert almost went off without a hitch. About halfway through the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction,” the power went out… There are rumors circulating the group as to a possible reason for the power outage. Please feel free to ask Jason Fritz what his thoughts on this matter are (this is a good way to see who is actually reading this blog).Nevertheless, the team from Highlands and St. Andrews did an outstanding job once again. Thus, another busy day ends with good music and good company.

Friends and family: We appreciate your prayers and support on this trip. It’s hard to convey the full scope of what we are doing down here in blog format. St. Andrews has such a great vision for Buenos Aires and we feel so blessed to be a part of it. Please pray for this body of worshippers, they are taking such good care of us. In fact, we are spoiled by their generosity. Buenos noches!

  4. Peter,

I applaud your use of "flying buttresses." The church looks very cool, and personally I would be pleased if the music cut off in the middle of Satisfaction.

    Keep up the good work!
